Brief History about CIT:
CIT was established by Makerere University Council on December 15, 2004 by upgrading the Institute of Computer Science into a Faculty with four Academic Departments; Computer Science, Networks, Information Technology and Information Systems. The Institute of Computer Science was established by Makerere University Council in 1985 from the University Computer Centre.

- Runs a mid-night programme to cater for people who are time and financially-constrained.
- Hosts an annual International Conference on Computing and ICT Research (ICCIR).

- Has $20 million worth of Investments in Infrastructure and other facilities.
