Professional Short Courses at CIPSD

The Center for Innovations and Professional Skills Development (CiPSD), through which the College addresses various industrial challenges like skills development, incubation of new ideas and nurturing of new technology based business. The center offers Cisco Networking Academy for Cisco related courses, Microsoft IT Academy Program for Microsoft relatedcourses, Digital security, Office productivity like International Computer Driving License course, Oracle Certified Training center for Oracle and GIS Training center among others.

CISCO Academy Support Centre

CoCIS is approved as a Regional Cisco Networking Academy under a partnership with Cisco Systems Inc. The Cisco Networking Academy Program is a comprehensive e-learning program that provides students with the Internet technology skills essential in a global economy.


The ICDL (International Computer Driving Licence) is an internationally recognised certificate. It certifies practical skills in the most commonly used computer applications such as Mircosoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Mircosoft Acess and much more.

Over 40 CoCIS students get first class degrees

A total of 43 students from the College of Computing and Information Sciences yesterday attained first class degrees during Makerere University's 63rd graduation ceremony held at the university's Freedom Square. Of these, 35 were from the School of Computing and Informatics Technology (CIT) while the eight were from the East African School of Library and Information Science (EASLIS).
Deborah Bongiri with a CGPA of 4.80 was the overall best student from the college. She attained a Bachelor's degree in Information Technology (BIT). The pioneer students of the Bachelor in Information Systems (BIS) and the Bachelor of Records and Archives Management (BRAM) also received their degrees.
In addition, Alison Annet Kinengyere was awarded a Doctorate of Philosophy (PhD) in Information Science, Ahmad Nazir Suhail a PhD in Information Technology while Peter Waiswa Wakabi and Washington Okori got PhDs in Computer Science.
Speaking during the ceremony, the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. John Ddumba Ssentamu asked the graduands to shun corruption adding that wealth gained through corruption would vanish at some point.
