CISCO Academy Award 2011

The College of Computing and Information Sciences (CoCIS) has received an award for having the best Cisco Academy Sustainability Model on the African continent. The award was announced by Hital Muraj, the Cisco Academy Area Manager and Technical Manager for Africa during the recent Cisco Academy Conference held at the University of Dar-es-Salaam, Tanzania.

The College, which has over 6,000 students was also recognized for having the largest academy in Africa in terms of student numbers. In addition, CoCIS Cisco Regional Academy was identified as the best regional academy in East and Central Africa for innovativeness in Local Academy Support Framework.


Commenting on the award, Drake Patrick Mirembe, Head Center for Professional Skills Development in CoCIS under which the Cisco Academy falls noted that the success was a team effort right from the top College management who have provided enabling policies and financial support to the academy to facilitate the purchase of equipment, programme promotion and training of instructors, to the Academy instructors who offer dedicated service to our clients.

 

He added that the large number of student enrollment in the academy was a result of the positive feedback the students get from their peers about the quality of training they receive from the College
