The Government of Uganda through the National Information Technology Authority, Uganda [NITA-U] and Makerere University College of Computing and Information Sciences in Collaboration with Egyptian Government, is pleased to announce the commencement of the 2nd National Business Process Outsourcing [BPO] Training Program commencing September 2012.
Business Process Outsourcing (BPO) is the strategic use of a third-party services provider to perform activities traditionally handled by internal staff and resources. BPO is often divided into two categories: back office outsourcing, which includes internal business functions such as billing or purchasing, and front office outsourcing, which includes customer-related services such as marketing or technical support.
The most common examples of BPO are Customer Support Services such as call centers, Policy Maintenance/Management such as human resource, Data Process Services such as payroll outsourcing, and Technical Support Services. BPO is dependent on Information Technology; hence, it is also referred to as an Information Technology Enabled Service (ITES). BPO is one of the fastest growing segments of Information Technology Enabled Services.
The Government of Uganda is committed to positioning the Uganda as a prime BPO Destination as well as growing the BPO Industry. In this regard the Government is going to undertake a series of trainings for its citizens to enable them participate in this growing industry globally.
The BPO industry globally employs millions of people and is one of the major revenue earners in countries like India. Uganda has the potential to tap into this sector because it does possess the major requirements necessary for a conducive environment.
Makerere University College of Computing and Information Sciences on behalf of the implementing partners is now receiving applications from interested candidates. The training to be delivered by renowned industry trainers from Egypt, who have delivered similar trainings across the globe will equip the trainees with skills that enable them participate actively in the industry. This training precedes the launch of the BPO Center in Kampala that will employ a number of UgandanÃ¢‚¬„¢s who meet the requirements.
The training is full-time and will last for one month
Applicants are required to possess a University degree qualification from a reputable institution. Possession of adequate computer skills and English language proficiency.

- You will then receive an e-mail and SMS between 21nd and 23rd August, inviting for the interviews.
Tuition Fee: 345,000/=UGX
Duration: 3rd September to 5th October
Number of participants required: 60 only
