Welcome to the Department of Information Technology (IT)! I am pleased to report that we deliver an IT curriculum that is always under constant review due to rapid changes in technology and to continue to nationally recognize our efforts. Our bachelor€„¢s degree program in Information Technology (BIT) has been reviewed following the Association for Computing Machinery (ACM) curriculum.  At the graduate level, we offer a Master of Information Technology (MIT), a Post Graduate Diploma in Information Technology, and a Ph.D. in Information Technology. The major objective of our department is to produce skilled professionals whose innovations and expertise can make them understand the complex and fast-changing IT environment. The programs offered in the department were designed to specifically meet the current and projected employment needs. Our department gives graduates grounding in business and management skills which are an essential requirement of employers.
Because of the continuous outstanding support we receive from the Faculty, the government, International organizations and the business community, the department has been able to tremendously progress in terms of its high-quality program, i.e. the outstanding department staff, a highly-developed curriculum, exceptional facilities, and the growing and nationally recognized research. In addition, we have received reports from our students that the department offers a learning environment that is unique; and what makes us distinct from any similar department in the faculty is the value and quality of our programs. As ICT contribute increasingly to our creativity, communications, entertainment, and well-being, there is increasing demand for IT graduates. Because of this demand for IT graduates, the program has become very competitive. In order to meet the growing demand therefore, the department utilizes the internship to equip students with hands on skills through innovative projects.
This is a great way for students to get hands-on experience before getting on full-time employment. From our internship reports, we observe that our IT students are highly demanded by potential employers. This means that this is a great time for you out there to get an IT degree! We also encourage employers to visit our site on how we can help your firms to deal with your search for excellent students and graduates. To the alumni, we are constantly anxious to hear from you on how we can further improve our programs. I hope you will enjoy more about what our department can offer to your respective needs by visiting all our programs, research activities and facilities.
