Welcome to ‘CIT Research’ through which the faculty introduces its wide range of cutting-edge ICT research activities to local and international academic community, Public/Private sector, potential collaborations, among others.
The faculty staff groups attach great importance to teaching, research and advisory activities in areas of: Information Systems; Information Technology; Computer Science; Software Engineering; Computer Engineering; Data Communications and Computer Networks; and ICT for Sustainable Development. Teaching and research by staff members is committed to building on its existing strengths and to encourage the development of new research where potential exists. The funding of various research activities comes through collaborations with various universities in Africa, Europe and USA.

To strengthen research management, the faculty management set up a Graduate Studies and Research Office with the staff and students of CIT in mind to act as an internal communications vehicle to coordinate and disseminate the latest research developments and activities. The office seeks to realize its vision of fostering and furthering responsible conduct of research through educating and assisting all categories of researchers (staff and graduate students) in the Faculty. The Office initiates and coordinates a wide range of research activities, visiting researchers and public events.

Major roles of Graduate Studies & Research Office

  • To provide liaison services to prospective and current research students with staff engaged in supervision in respective departments;
  • To organize an induction seminar for new graduate students to introduce them to the faculty research support services/ benefit;
  • To organize training workshops/seminars on proposal/project/dissertation writing and research skills for Graduate students;
  • To enforce the university’s policies on student and staff research by disseminating good research practices and ensuring that they are applied in faculty departments;
  • To participate in the formulation of policy on a wide range of issues affecting graduate research students concerning supervisory roles, research process, plagiarism, etc;
  • To monitor students’ research progress: maintaining a regular review mechanism on all research reports and providing feedback for corrections;
  • To prepare and maintain guidelines for students and their supervisors, to ensure effective and efficient conduct and completion of their research reports;
  • To organize seminars and lectures of general interest to graduate students;
  • To disseminate information to students on scholarships and further study opportunities;
  • To prepare and maintain a database on research reports for graduate students;
  • To compile a database of research resources (Journal, books etc) to assist staff and students to carry out their research;
  • To organize of the annual International conference on Computing and ICT research;
  • To give support to editors of the International Journal of Computing and ICT research.
