To be admitted to any programme, candidates MUST fulfill the general Makerere University entry requirements for the respective programmes. In addition, candidates MUST fulfill the following requirements for programmes in the School of Computing and IT.

BSC Computer Science

Direct Entry

Candidates seeking admission through this avenue must have obtained:-

  1. At least a principle pass in Mathematics in the Uganda Advanced Certificate of Education (UACE) or its equivalent
  2.  At least two principle passes at the same sitting in UACE in any of the following subjects: – Economics, Entrepreneurship, Geography, Physics, Chemistry and Biology.
  3. A minimum weighted point set by the Makerere University Admissions Board.

Diploma Entry

  1. Have at least 5 passes got at the same sitting of Uganda Certificate of Education or its equivalent, with credits in English and Mathematics
  2. Have at least 1 principal pass and 2 subsidiary passes from the same sitting of the Uganda Advanced Certificate of Education (UACE) or its equivalent
  3. Have a Diploma in Computer Science and Information Technology of Makerere University or have at least a Second class(lower division) diploma in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, and Statistics or any other diploma with Mathematics, Computer Science, or Information Technology as one of the subjects. The diploma must be from an Institution recognized by the National Council for Higher Education in Uganda.

Candidates seeking admission through this avenue must have obtained:-

  1. At least a principle pass in Mathematics in the Uganda Advanced Certificate of Education (UACE) or its equivalent
  2.  At least two principle passes at the same sitting in UACE in any of the following subjects: – Economics, Entrepreneurship, Geography, Physics, Chemistry and Biology.
  3. A minimum weighted point set by the Makerere University Admissions Board.

Bachelors in Information Technology

Direct Entry

  1. The Uganda Certificate of Education (UCE) or its equivalent, with credits in English and Mathematics.
  2. At least two principal passes at the same sitting in Uganda Advanced Certificate of Education (UACE) in any two subjects (Mathematics, Physics, Economics, Chemistry and Biology and Entrepreneurship

Diploma Entry

At least any second Class (lower division) diploma from a recognized institution.

Candidates who hold a Diploma in Computer Science and Information Technology from Makerere University with at least second class (lower division) shall be admitted to the second year of Bachelor of Information Technology. Candidates who hold a pass class of the same diploma shall be admitted to the first year of Bachelor of Information Technology.
